The Gospel of St. John: A Commentary
This Commentary on the Gospel of John, written by the late, noble, and beloved Bishop Gerasimos of Abydos in his native Greek language and translated into English by the Reverend Fr. Peter Chamberas, should be considered as an excellent spiritual resource. Bishop Gerasimos was well known as a gentle, humble, kind, Christocentric, and wise man of God who, in all things, simply exuded love from his heart. He was particularly known for his love of the New Testament; he loved to write about the Holy Scriptures, and he had a special love for the Gospel of John. For Bishop Gerasimos, the experience of Christ's love was the most basic principle of biblical interpretation itself. Indeed, for one to know and feel the love of God was considered to be an essential prerequisite by the late Bishop Gerasimos in his effort to authentically understand the Gospels in general, and the Gospel of John in particular, as its author himself understood it.
